A Journey by Brianna Barberio

August 2023

Hey there, lovely readers! I'm absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news with you all. The Ethereal Wasteland Series is stepping back into the spotlight, and I couldn't be more excited about it. I'm absolutely honored to announce that the series will be gracing the walls of The Bethpage Public Library gallery in Bethpage, NY, for the entire month of August. My heart and soul have been poured into this collection, and the opportunity to showcase it once again is a dream come true. So, gather 'round as I give you the scoop on this exciting journey.

Humble Beginnings

Back in August 2022, at The Cup Coffeehouse in Wantagh, NY, the series had its grand debut, exactly one year ago. This spot has always held a special place in my heart, being a long-time favorite of mine. I've not only showcased my artwork there multiple times, but you can also find and snag authentic Harvest Moon Gemz stickers there anytime. (A little plug won't hurt, right?)

Escape into a Tranquil Fantasy

Are you ready to escape reality's routine? Imagine fluffy clouds decorating the sky, painted in delicate shades of pink and gold. It's a scene from a dream, a peaceful wasteland where reality merges effortlessly with fantasy. This aesthetic has been my ultimate passion, and translating these visions into tangible art has been incredibly fulfilling.

Longing for the Unseen

There's an indescribable power within this series – it's like a doorway to a place both familiar and distant, a realm my feet have never touched. As I breathe life into each artwork - with the assistance of friends, my boyfriend, my camera, and photoshop - a longing washes over me. It's as though I'm craving a time and space that never existed, yet it feels like home. The shades of pink and the boundless wasteland stir emotions I can't put into words.

A Starseed's Homecoming

Do you ever feel like a starseed, awaiting a cosmic beckon to your true home? I've often pondered if I'm one – a cosmic wanderer with origins beyond Earth. The ethereal wasteland feels like the perfect backdrop for this celestial yearning. It's a realm where starseeds might uncover their genuine home amid the serene beauty.

Embrace the Nostalgia

Nostalgia has a peculiar way of tugging at our heart strings. It's the feeling of missing something we've never actually experienced, a sentiment that's beautifully encapsulated in the ethereal wasteland. Each and every detail captures not only image and color, but deep emotion, and through these artworks, I hope you find your own connection to that longing. Maybe you, too, have felt the pull of a world you've never actually known.

An Everlasting Dreamscape

As the series returns for a second showcase, I'm delighted to announce three new additions to the collection; Earth Angel, Star Crossedand Serenity StationThis showcases how this world of boundless possibilities keeps expanding. I plan to continue this journey, adding more pieces in the future. Each addition is a brushstroke of longing, a glimpse into a time and place that feels both familiar yet unexplored.

To experience the enchantment of the Ethereal Wasteland collection firsthand, I'd love for you to join me at the reception on Thursday, August 24, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Bethpage Public Library.
